ISLAMABAD, 12 March 2025: Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif has confirmed that all 33 terrorists who attacked the Jaffar Express have been killed, while four Frontier Corps (FC) jawans were martyred during the attack.
DG ISPR, while talking to a private TV channel, said that on March 11, terrorists targeted the railway track in the Bolan area, due to which the Jaffar Express had to be stopped. The terrorists took advantage of this opportunity and took the passengers hostage.
He said the security forces completed the operation with utmost skill and care, during which no passenger was harmed. The snipers of the forces killed the suicide bombers on the spot, while the clearance operation against the terrorists was completed successfully.
DG ISPR said that the terrorists had martyred 21 passengers before the operation. However, security forces had safely evacuated more than 100 passengers by yesterday evening, and all the hostages had been recovered by this evening.
The spokesman revealed that the terrorists were in touch with their facilitators in Afghanistan and used the hostages as human shields. The Pakistan Army, FC, Special Services Group (SSG), and Air Force participated in the operation.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif said that the Jaffar Express incident has changed the rules of the game. No one can be allowed to target innocent civilians on roads or trains. He added that the Indian media carried misleading reporting on the incident and circulated old photos, videos and artificial intelligence-generated content, which shows the nexus of terrorists and their supporters.
He regretted that some political elements in their lust for power were harming the national interest and trying to weaken the state stance against terrorism by creating baseless justifications.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif clarified that these terrorists have nothing to do with the religion of Islam, Pakistan, or Balochistan.
It should be noted that the terrorists targeted the Jaffar Express going from Quetta to Peshawar at Dhadar and took the passengers hostage, after which the security forces carried out a successful operation and killed all the terrorists.
