Tashkent – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has arrived in the capital Tashkent on a two-day visit to Uzbekistan. He was warmly received at the airport by the Uzbek Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Mayor of Tashkent.
After arriving in Tashkent, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the Azadi Memorial, where he laid a wreath and paid homage to the great historical figures of Uzbekistan. He conveyed his best wishes to the Uzbek people and called for further strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will hold important meetings with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov during his visit. The discussions will focus on enhancing trade, economic, energy and cultural ties between the two countries. In addition, the Prime Minister will address the Pak-Uzbekistan Business Forum, which will be attended by business leaders from both countries.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the Easy Service Centre in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani authorities briefed him on the work of the center. The Prime Minister appreciated the facilities being provided to the people and expressed his desire to start a similar pilot project in Islamabad.
The main objective of the visit is to strengthen relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Their efforts are expected to add a new dimension to the relations between the two countries.
