Punjab Government Imposed Section 144 Across the Province

Lahore, Pakistan: On 8 February 2025, the Punjab provincial government implemented Section 144, preventing every type of political demonstration, including protests, gatherings, processions, rallies, and sit-ins. Through an announcement by the Punjab Home Department, all province areas will remain under Section 144 to prevent public unrest and safeguard property and life safety measures.

The department has declared through its spokesperson that Section 144 regulations serve as a preventative strategy to maintain peace and public security. The Home Department of Punjab announced Section 144 after recommendations from both the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and the Provincial Intelligence Committee, who stated potential risks to public safety.

Local authorities made this decision during rising political anarchy in the area to stop disruptions in everyday life activities. Participants who break the order will become subject to prosecution through relevant legal provisions.
