Hafiz Naeem Urges Solidarity with Palestinians, Condemns PICA Ordinance

Karachi: Ameer e Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, hailed Hamas for their part in the Palestinian resistance, saying the party has shown the world “there is life in resistance.” In a Karachi press conference, he praised the Palestinians for conquering Israel on October 7, 2023, therefore attesting to a triumph for justice.

“We completely endorse Hamas’s acts opposing Israel. Their success stands for the triumph of truth over tyranny, Hafiz Naeem said. He underlined that not only Israel’s loss but also the United States’ loss, which he said had an agenda unaltered by leadership changes. “The American people support Hamas, and the group is a democratic force,” he said.

When he thought back on his most recent trip to Qatar, Hafiz Naeem discussed his interactions with reporters who had evolved as Palestine’s voice. “Hamas has made history in its fight against Israel,” he stated, further pointing out the latest peace accord as a triumph for Hamas following fifteen months of conflict.

Hafiz Naeem commended the Palestinian people’s resiliency in spite of devastation in Gaza, pointing out, “The entire Gaza is a mound of ruins, yet the Palestinians did not bow down. They deserved our respect as they battled with bravery. He urged the world community to accept the truth and justice underlying the Palestinian struggle.

Hafiz Naeem also spoke about press freedom in Pakistan, opposing the government’s adoption of the PICA ordinance. Emphasizing that Jamaat-e-Islami supports journalistic organizations against any action compromising freedom of expression, he said, “We will not allow any efforts to restrict free speech,” he declared.

Under both the PML-N and PTI governments, Hafiz Naeem denounced earlier actions when identical ordinances had been passed and resulted in journalists forced disappearances. He underlined that although fake news should be regulated, before enacting such rules, the government had to have consulted media outlets. “We are with our journalist brothers and will not tolerate attacks on press freedom,” he declared.
