Federal Information Minister Reiterates Commitment to Justice in May 9 Cases

WAZIRABAD – Federal Minister for Information Ata Tarar has underlined that events of May 9 cannot be disregarded in the sake of political discussions.

Speaking with the media in Wazirabad, the minister said that while the government wants to interact with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to guarantee political stability, such talks would not compromise on handling acts of hostility against the state. “The purpose of talks is to find ways to move the country in a better direction, not to sweep national security concerns under the rug,” he said.

He underlined that political stability is now crucial for the development of the country; economic stability has already been reached. Along with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who incorporated major changes based on PTI’s recommendations, the minister also praised PTI’s constructive contribution in supporting the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

Dealing with current events, Ata Tarar called for the absence of domestic politics from international relations and denied rumors regarding foreign engagement involving PTI’s leadership. Emphasizing the openness of military proceedings, including legal counsel and appeal rights, he also supported the latest remarks made by DG ISPR.

Regarding individuals found guilty by military courts, the minister said that clear proof of their participation in assaults on military sites and arson has been provided. “The masterminds behind the May 9 incidents will face the law,” he said sternly.

The minister underlined once again how committed the government is to upholding the rule of law and guaranteeing that everyone responsible for the May 9 attacks is punished.
