Islamabad: A slight decline in inflationary pressure has been seen in the country. The Federal Bureau of Statistics, while releasing a weekly inflation report, has said that the inflation rate decreased by 0.09 percent during the week, while inflation on an annual basis has dropped to 2.83 percent.
According to the report, during the last week, the prices of 13 essential items increased, 11 items became cheaper, while the prices of 27 items remained unchanged. In the recent week, the prices of ground chili, chicken and bananas recorded a significant increase.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, there was also an increase in electricity charges, where electricity charges for the first quarter increased by 1.67 percent and the price per unit increased from Rs 6 to Rs 6.10.
The report further stated that the prices of garlic, eggs, ghee and mutton increased; however, a significant decrease was recorded in the prices of a few items, including potatoes, tomatoes, sugar, lentils, chickpeas and onions, which reduced the pressure on overall inflation to some extent.
