lslamabad: The World Bank has approved a $47.9 million grant to develop the education sector in Punjab. This grant has been provided through the Global Partnership for Education Funds to increase the student enrollment rate at the pre-primary and primary levels in the province.
The World Bank’s announcement said that under the project, special attention will be paid to bringing out-of-school children back into the education system and improving learning outcomes at the primary level. Additionally, professional training of teachers, climate change and effective response of educational institutions to emergencies have also been made part of the project.
The World Bank Country Director said that this initiative is very important to provide equal access to quality education in the province. According to him, the project will help in long-term human resource development as well as economic stability and prosperity of Punjab.
