Islamabad: The latest report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) shows that inflation in October 2025 exceeded government estimates, indicating continued pressure on household budgets across the country.
According to official data, monthly inflation rose by 1.83 percent, taking the annual inflation rate to 6.24 percent, higher than the Finance Ministry’s expected range of 5-6 percent. Experts attribute the increase to rising food and transport costs along with price adjustments in utilities.
The data shows that rural areas suffered more with a monthly increase of 2.26 percent compared to 1.54 percent in urban areas. On an annual basis, rural inflation reached 6.59 percent while cities recorded 6 percent.
From July to October 2025, the average inflation was 4.73 percent, showing a gradual increase from the rate of 5.6 percent in September. Analysts say weather factors and higher import costs have added pressure on local markets.
Economists expect inflationary trends to stabilize in the coming months if the exchange rate remains stable and energy prices are kept under control. Still, the government faces a challenge in balancing price stability and growth.
