Federal debt increases by 13 percent, latest report from State Bank till June 2025

Islamabad: The State Bank of Pakistan has released the latest figures on the federal government’s debt and liabilities as of June 2025, which show that the federal debt has increased by 13 percent in the fiscal year 2025.

According to the report, the total debt of the federal government reached Rs 77,888 billion as of June 2025, compared to Rs 68,914 billion a year ago, i.e. in June 2024.

According to the State Bank’s data, the federal government’s domestic debt increased by 15.5 percent to Rs 54,471 billion, while external debt recorded a 7.6 percent increase and reached Rs 23,417 billion.

The latest figures provide a picture of the country’s fiscal situation and the government’s growing debt obligations, which are important for future fiscal planning.
