Islamabad: Remittances in Pakistan have crossed a new milestone in December 2025, giving a positive signal for the country’s economy, for which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has specially thanked overseas Pakistanis.
According to Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Shahzad, remittances in December 2025 were about 17 percent higher than $3.1 billion in December 2024 and 13 percent higher than $3.2 billion in November 2025.
He said that the total remittances in the first half of the fiscal year 2026 have reached $19.7 billion, which is 14 percent more than the same period last year. According to Khurram Shahzad, the total remittances are expected to exceed $41 billion by the end of the current fiscal year.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that remittances by overseas Pakistanis are a high example of patriotism and the government considers the welfare of overseas Pakistanis as its top priority.
