Quetta: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the moon of Muharram 1447 AH has been sighted in Pakistan. Accordingly, the first of Muharram will be on Thursday, June 27, 2025, while the Day of Ashura will be on Sunday, July 6.
This announcement was made after a meeting chaired by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, which was held in Quetta. The meeting received evidence of moon sightings from different parts of the country, after which the sighting was announced in a regular press conference.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said that after confirming the evidence of the moon, the dates of the first of Muharram and the Day of Ashura have been determined. An appeal is made to all schools of thought to ensure religious tolerance, peace, and brotherhood during these days.
