PTI MNAs resign from committees; Gauhar Khan’s stance revealed

Islamabad: Implementing the internal decisions of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), 18 members of the National Assembly of the party have submitted their resignations from various standing committees to the Speaker’s Office.

The list includes many important leaders, including Chairman PTI Barrister Gauhar Khan, Faisal Amin Gandapur, Ali Asghar Khan, Shehryar Afridi, and Asif Khan. Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Junaid Akbar and former Chief Whip Aamir Dogar have also submitted their resignations.

Barrister Gauhar Khan confirmed to the media that he has resigned from four committees, including Law and Justice, Human Rights, IT, and the House Business Advisory Committee. He said that PTI tried hard to remain a part of the parliamentary system, but the circumstances made the resignations inevitable.

He said, “We had 180 seats in the National Assembly; there was a two-thirds majority in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but our workers were martyred, and the founding chairman, Imran Khan, was unjustly imprisoned. Despite this, we tried to find a way for talks.”

Gauhar Khan clarified that no negotiations are taking place at present; however, there is still a need for talks to resolve the political crisis.

It may be recalled that recently Imran Khan had directed party members to resign from the standing committees of the National Assembly.
