ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of life and property due to the recent cloudburst and floods. He expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the affected families and said that the government is utilizing all resources to provide immediate relief to the victims.
Ishaq Dar said in his statement that federal and provincial agencies, armed forces and local administrations are engaged in rescue and relief activities, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has chaired an emergency meeting to review the situation.
He added that only official meetings will be held during his long-planned visit to the UK, while the scheduled community meeting with British Pakistanis has been canceled.
Ishaq Dar said that this decision has been taken to express solidarity with the affected families and to focus fully on the national relief efforts. He appealed to all Pakistanis to pray for the victims and actively participate in the relief work.
