Public holiday declared across Sindh on August 9 to mark the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai

Karachi: The Sindh government has declared a public holiday across the province on August 9, 2025, on the occasion of the annual Urs of renowned Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

According to a notification issued by the Sindh Services and General Administration Department, all government and semi-government offices and educational institutions will remain closed on that day.

Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s teachings and poetry are still considered an important pillar of Sindh’s culture, literature and spirituality. Thousands of pilgrims visit his shrine in Bhit Shah on the occasion of his Urs.

This initiative by the Sindh government provides an opportunity for the public to participate in spiritual and cultural activities.
