Proposal for Rs53 billion electricity discount, NEPRA public hearing completes

Islamabad: There is hope for a possible reduction in electricity prices. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has confirmed that the public hearing on the fourth quarter adjustment of 2024-25 has been completed.

The DISCOs have proposed to give a relief of Rs53.39 billion to consumers, on which the final decision will be issued after a complete examination of the data.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) says that if this proposal is approved, consumers will be given the benefit of a reduction of Rs1.80 per unit on electricity for the next three months.

NEPRA clarified that this relief will be given to DISCOs and K-Electric consumers, however, lifeline consumers, prepaid meters and electric vehicle charging stations will not be included in it.
