Rising sugar prices: A bitter truth for ordinary Pakistanis

The rising sugar prices in Pakistan have become a serious problem for the public. The inflation of this basic necessity used in daily life has shaken the budget of every household. The common citizen, who is already worried about inflation, electricity bills and rising prices of other essential items, is now also worried about sugar. Be it Ramadan or any happy occasion, sugar is necessary on every occasion, but now it is becoming difficult for the common man to buy it.

The government’s announcement to import sugar can certainly be a temporary relief, but the question is whether this relief will reach the common consumer? The first batch of imported sugar is expected in September, but by then, prices in the local market will not increase further? The public has its eyes on the government, but past experiences have made them cautious.
