Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian arrives in Pakistan, receives a friendly welcome, hope for important agreements

Islamabad: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Peshkeshian arrived in Pakistan on a two-day official visit. He was received at Lahore Airport by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Later, he left for Islamabad, where Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed him at Noor Khan Airbase.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and a high-level delegation also arrived in Pakistan. The meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed mutual trade, border cooperation, and Iran’s participation in CPEC.

The Iranian president had said before his departure that he wanted to take trade relations with Pakistan to new heights and that he wanted to actively participate in China’s Belt and Road Initiative so that Iran could have access to Europe.

Upon his arrival in Pakistan, the Iranian president visited the Iqbal Shrine in Lahore, offered Fateha, and wrote his thoughts in the guest book. The visit is expected to open new doors for economic, diplomatic, and regional cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
