Vacant seats in Parliament—who will take the place in the opposition? Three members, including Ijaz Chaudhry, were disqualified.

Islamabad: The balance of power in Parliament is going to be affected, as the Election Commission has disqualified Senator Ijaz Chaudhry, Ahmed Khan Bhachar, and Ahmed Chatha after the court’s convictions, leaving three seats vacant.

Political analysts believe that this decision has come at a time when the opposition parties are facing internal differences and a leadership crisis. The political vacuum created by the disqualification could become a new opportunity or a new threat for them.

According to sources, the PTI, PML-N, and other parties have intensified the process of searching for new candidates internally, as the date of the by-election could come up at any time.

These decisions have raised the question for the opposition: “Will the old faces go and new people take over the political landscape?”
