Islamabad : President Asif Ali Zardari has issued Ordinance 2025 to transform Frontier Constabulary into nationwide Federal Force, under which the Frontier Constabulary will now be known as “Federal Constabulary”.

According to the ordinance, the Federal Constabulary will have the authority to work in all four provinces, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. The jurisdiction of this force is being expanded so that the establishment of law and justice across the country is made more effective.

The ordinance issued by the President states that the federal government will appoint an Inspector General of the Federal Constabulary, while a Wing Commander will be appointed in each division, whose rank will be equal to that of a Deputy Inspector General.

Under the ordinance, two divisions of the Federal Constabulary will be formed: one Security Division and the other Federal Reserve Division. Offices will be established across the country for recruitment in the Federal Constabulary.

Furthermore, the federal government will have the authority to recruit the Federal Reserve Force for the establishment of law and order. The responsibilities of the Federal Constabulary include riot control, internal security, counter-terrorism and protection.

This reorganised framework will be under the command of officers of the Police Service of Pakistan, which will work to enforce law and ensure national security.
