Lahore: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all banks across the country will remain closed for public transactions on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. This annual bank holiday is being observed in connection with the end of the financial year, which is aimed at facilitating banks to finalize their annual accounts and financial affairs.
According to the notification issued by the SBP, all commercial banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks will remain closed for public transactions on July 1st. Cash deposits, withdrawals, check clearance, and other over-the-counter services will not be available during this period. However, bank staff will remain present in the offices as usual and complete internal financial transactions.
It should be noted that this is a bank holiday and not a general public holiday. Therefore, other government and private institutions, as well as business activities, will continue as usual.
This annual closure at the end of the financial year is considered necessary for the banking system to ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
