Islamabad: Speaking in the National Assembly, Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that large-scale reforms are underway in the FBR, aimed at bringing transparency to the institution, eliminating corruption, and preventing tax evasion.

Responding to the opposition leader’s criticism of federal expenditure, he said that the current government has reduced federal expenditure by 2 percent compared to the past, which is a practical demonstration of austerity and fiscal discipline.

Criticizing the previous governments, the finance minister said that earlier prime ministers used to come to the assembly by helicopter, while our government has adopted austerity.

He said that Rs 1 trillion has been allocated for the federal Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), and if the development budget of the provinces is included, the total amount becomes Rs 4 trillion.
