NADRA makes important amendments in CNIC and B-Form rules

Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has implemented important reforms in the National Identity Card, B-Form and Family Registration Certificate (FRC) rules, which aim to make the system modern, transparent and fraud-free. According to the amendment, now the birth registration of a child will be mandatory in the Union Council before the issuance of B-Form, and the condition of biometric or photo has been abolished for children up to three years, while photo and iris scan have been declared mandatory for children between the ages of three and ten and complete biometric data for children between the ages of 10 and 18.

The Family Registration Certificate has now become legal and the complete record of multiple marriages of men will be recorded in it, while women can choose to have their father or husband’s reference entered on the CNIC.

NADRA has made it mandatory to resolve cases of seizure or restoration of CNIC within 30 days and has added modern security features such as data in Urdu and English and QR codes without biometric chip, without additional fees

The main objective of these changes is to prevent fake entries, promote public convenience and transparency in the identification system
