Toll tax increase: Travel on motorways expensive, new rates for cars and trucks issued

Lahore: Another shock for those traveling on motorways, the Motorway Police has announced an increase in toll tax, under which new rates will be applicable from June 15, 2025.

Now, 50 percent additional charges will be levied on non-M-Tag or low-balance vehicles. The policy is said to be aimed at promoting the e-tagging system and making the traffic system more organized.

According to the new rates:

  • Islamabad to Lahore: Car toll Rs. 1,800
  • Lahore to Abdul Hakeem: Rs. 1,200
  • Pindi Bhattian to Multan: Rs. 1,600
  • Multan to Sukkur: Rs. 1,800
  • DI Khan to Hakla: Rs. 1,000
  • Hassan Abdal to Mansehra: Rs. 450

People associated with the transport industry have expressed serious reservations over the decision, saying that this increase will further increase the cost of doing business and the common citizen will also be affected.

Transporters have demanded that the government at least provide special concessions for cargo and commercial vehicles so that the business flow is not affected.
