ISLAMABAD— Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while discussing in detail the economic direction of Pakistan during a meeting with representatives of chambers of commerce across the country, said that now is the time for us to move towards economic self-reliance, for which the private sector will have to play a dynamic role.
He said that the focus of the current government is on easy business policies to promote the investment trend. The prime minister, while describing small and medium enterprises as the backbone of national development, said that the provision of loans is being made easier for them.
He said that adapting Pakistan’s industries to modern technology is a guarantee of improving the economy. Shahbaz Sharif further said that economic fundamentals are being strengthened through measures such as reducing the cost of doing business, easing electricity tariffs, and expanding the tax net. He warned that tax evasion will not be tolerated and concrete steps are being taken for a transparent tax system.
