Pakistan Observes Youm-e-Tashakur to Honor Armed Forces’ Victory

Islamabad— Today, Pakistan commemorates “Youm-e-Tashakur” (Day of Gratitude) nationwide, celebrating the historic victory of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and paying tribute to the valor of its armed forces and resilient citizens.

The day commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and special prayers in mosques across the country, seeking blessings for national unity, prosperity, and the liberation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

A 31-gun salute resonated in Islamabad, while 21-gun salutes were fired in all provincial capitals, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, symbolizing the nation’s gratitude towards its defenders.

Ceremonial change-of-guard events were held at the mausoleums of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi and Allama Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore. Floral wreaths were laid at Yadgaar-e-Shuhada to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the operation.

In Lahore, members of the Clean City Labour Union held a celebratory demonstration at the Lahore Press Club to commemorate the achievement of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.

The main ceremony is scheduled for tonight at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as the chief guest. The Chief of Army Staff and thean of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will also be in attendance.

President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message, lauded the armed forces for their professional and powerful response to Indian aggression, stating that the victory is a testament to the nation’s unity and resilience.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos has shattered the myth of India’s regional supremacy, highlighting the bravery and skill of Pakistan’s military personnel.

The government has clarified that May 16 is not a public holiday, urging citizens to participate in the day’s events while continuing their regular activities.

Youm-e-Tashakur serves as a reminder of the nation’s unwavering commitment to its sovereignty and the sacrifices made by its armed forces and citizens in the face of adversity.
