Islamabad-—An important meeting was held at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, which was attended by Law Minister Nazir Tarar, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Minister of State Barrister Aqeel. The meeting discussed the situation in the country and the government’s stance in the context of Pakistan-India tensions.

According to sources, the meeting also deliberated on building national consensus on issues related to national security and talks with the opposition. In addition, it has been decided to convene a session of the National Assembly on May 5, in which a resolution will be presented against India.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has described India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty and close the Attari check post as a threat to peace in the region. He said that the steps taken by India will be given a befitting reply.

It should be noted that India has announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan and the closure of the Attari check post on the pretext of the attack in the Pahalgam area of occupied Kashmir. Apart from this, India has also decided to stop visas to Pakistanis under SAARC.
