ISLAMABAD: A key meeting on the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was held under the chairing of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in which a detailed briefing was given on the proposed auction procedure of the national airline, the time required for the process, and the conditions for participating in the auction. The Prime Minister directed that the process of privatization of all government institutions, including PIA, should be carried out with complete transparency, and it should be broadcast on live TV and digital platforms so that public confidence increases.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister made it clear that the need of the hour is to establish an atmosphere of complete trust with investors, for which road shows should be organized across the country and abroad. He said that transparency should be the main pillar in the privatization process, and the sale of any institution should not be hidden from the public eye.

The briefing was informed that a comprehensive strategy has been prepared with the help of an international consultant to capture the attention of investors, which is being effectively implemented. In the meeting, the officials of the Privatization Commission were also informed about the future course of action, while the Prime Minister directed them to ensure that the entire process of privatization is completed within the stipulated time.
