PM Shehbaz Sharif Directs Crackdown on Human Traffickers and Their Property

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered legal actions to proceed for seizing the assets and properties of human smugglers and accused involved in human trafficking and asked the concerned departments to approach other countries to bring back Pakistanis involved in human trafficking.

Speaking at a meeting on initiatives to combat human trafficking, the Prime Minister welcomed the latest dismissals and demotions of officials who assisted traffickers.

He stressed that prosecution process for each person involved in this detestable crime should be enhanced while public education regarding overseas employment should only be through legal means.

PM Shehbaz also called for more rigorous measures to be taken over the screening of people attending airport for foreign destinations and more rigorous measures afterwards as facilitators were punished.

The Prime Minister urged strong legal actions against the trafficking rings and said that legal actions should be taken for the freezing of all properties and assets of human traffickers. He also ordered that approaches to countries outside Pakistan be made to press for extradition of Pakistanis involved in the business.
