Pakistan’s desire for large-scale economic cooperation with the United States

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan wants to further boost economic cooperation with the United States. In an interview with a US TV channel, he said that talks were underway between the two countries to remove tariff barriers.

The finance minister said that if there are any unnecessary checks or barriers in Pakistan on American products, the government is ready to review it in detail.

He said Pakistan was keen to buy more cotton and soybeans from the US, and US investment in the mining and mineral sectors would be welcomed.

He said Pakistan would soon send an official delegation to the United States to enhance economic relations. He stressed that the investment of American companies in Pakistan would be welcomed.

Senator Aurangzeb said that the government will also approach the global financial markets to put Pakistan’s economy on the path of sustainable development, and it is the priority of the government at the moment to get the country out of the cycle of economic instability.
