Sialkot: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, while speaking at a function in Sialkot, said that 4,700 Pakistani nationals have been caught in Saudi Arabia for begging, which is an embarrassment for the country. He said that politicians have to play a serious role in protecting the country’s reputation beyond personal interests.
He also came down heavily on the IPPs and said that there were big and powerful names behind these projects, who took financial benefits. According to Khawaja Asif, the foundation of these projects was laid by the PPP in 1993, but most of the plants were installed during the rule of General Musharraf.
On the occasion, he also discussed issues related to energy and economy and said that the development of solar energy in Pakistan is a positive aspect, but the duty loss of $4 billion on imports is weighing on the country’s treasury.
