Maryam Nawaz’s historic relief package for farmers, a big step of 15 billion rupees

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a special package of Rs 15 billion for wheat farmers. The government’s move will directly benefit five and a half lakh farmers across the province.

According to a spokesperson of the Punjab Government, under this package, direct financial assistance will be provided to the farmers through Kisan Card, which is the most modern and transparent mechanism. Along with this, farmers have also been given relief in excise and fixed taxes, which is a big facility for farmers in this difficult economic time.

Other major facilities for farmers:

Free storage facility for four months so that farmers can avoid market and climatic pressures. Launch of Electronic Warehousing Receipt (EWR) system, through which farmers will be able to borrow 70% of their cost against receipt in 24 hours. The government of Punjab will pay the markup on loans worth Rs100 billion, which will benefit flour mills and wheat entrepreneurs. Removal of the ban on interregional transportation of wheat and flour, which will improve the supply in the market. The move is a milestone in supporting the agrarian economy of the province, which is an important step towards restoring the confidence of farmers and ensuring real remuneration for their hard work.
