Pakistan’s condemned misleading social media campaign on Palestinian resolution

Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly rejected the misleading campaign being spread on social media over the resolution on Palestine in the United Nations, making it clear that these comments are being spread on the basis of false media reports, which have nothing to do with reality.

According to the Foreign Office, the resolution was actually an annual joint presentation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Geneva, which was presented after the approval of the Palestinian delegation and the full endorsement of the OIC. Pakistan played the role of a mere OIC coordinator in the process and did not unilaterally amend the text of the resolution at any stage.

The Foreign Office spokesman said that the resolution was neither aimed at eliminating any proposal nor weakening the Palestinian position, but its main purpose was to hand it over to the UN General Assembly. So that there can be a serious discussion on this issue at the global level.

The Foreign Office dismissed as baseless rumours that Pakistan had recognised Israeli interests. The spokesperson made it clear that Pakistan neither recognises Israel nor is in touch with Israel on any multilateral platform.

The statement added that Pakistan has also submitted two more resolutions of the OIC to the UN at the request of the Palestinian delegation, which are proof that Pakistan’s commitment to the Palestinian cause is historic and unwavering.
