ISLAMABAD – Eight Pakistani nationals have been killed in a tragic incident in the Iranian province of Sistan. The Foreign Office of Pakistan has demanded immediate consular access from the Iranian authorities. To identify the deceased and to reveal the full details of the incident.
The incident took place in Mehrestan county, some 230 km from the Pakistan-Iran border, the Foreign Office said in a statement. According to the Foreign Office spokesman, the government of Pakistan is in constant touch with the Iranian authorities, and it is hoped that those responsible will be brought to justice after a thorough investigation.
The Foreign Office said efforts are underway to identify the deceased and ascertain the cause of the incident, and more details will be shared with the public soon. According to the spokesman, the government of Pakistan expects full cooperation from the Iranian authorities in this matter.
