PTI announces participation in National Security Committee meeting, sends 14 names to the Speaker

Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to attend the parliamentary National Security Committee meeting. According to sources, the decision was taken after consultations in the opposition lobby, where several leaders, including party chairman Barrister Gohar, supported attending the meeting. Meanwhile, Junaid Akbar suggested that the founder of PTI should also be consulted.
PTI has provided the Speaker of the National Assembly with 14 names to attend the meeting, including Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Amir Dogar, Sanaullah Mastikhel, Ali Muhammad Khan, Ali Zafar, Senator Humayun Mohmand, and Awn Abbas Bappi.
Earlier, the government had asked PTI for names to attend the meeting. Speaker of the National Assembly and Chief Whip Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had contacted Amir Dogar and sought names to participate in the committee.
The PTI’s decision is being seen as a major political development as it paves the way for talks on national security issues despite tensions between the government and the opposition in recent days.
