Peshawar: After the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial president Junaid Akbar has claimed that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and he have been arrested.
Junaid Akbar reported the arrest of both leaders in his statement on social media. Other PTI leaders have also reacted to this development. However, full details about the place, time and reasons for the arrest have not been revealed.
This development comes after President Asif Ali Zardari approved the imposition of emergency and measures related to governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The federal government has cited the law and order situation in the province and the growing threat of terrorism as the reasons for these measures.
These changes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have raised important questions about the powers and administrative matters of the provincial government. The PTI has objected to the emergency and governor’s rule, while fears are also being expressed of further tension in the political situation in the province.
The situation will become clearer after the official position on the arrests and more details are revealed by the relevant authorities.
