LAHORE: Expressing its readiness for talks with the government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has demanded that its founding chairman Imran Khan be transferred to Shifa International Hospital. On the other hand, government representatives have taken a tough stance on the Sohail Afridi issue and have also discussed the possibility of Governor’s rule. Meanwhile, the roads connecting Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been opened for traffic.
PTI leader Salman Akram Raja has said that his party is ready for talks with the government if Imran Khan is shifted to Shifa International Hospital. According to him, the party gave the government an opportunity to review its decisions by postponing the long march. He said that steps can still be taken to bring the state system in the right direction.
The government has reacted strongly to the Sohail Afridi issue. Federal Minister Amir Muqam said that Sohail Afridi is not acceptable. He linked some of his actions to the requirements of implementing Governor’s Rule and urged government officials not to follow his orders.
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar also spoke about the possibility of Governor’s Rule and said that if the requirements of this measure are met under the Constitution, it will be implemented. His statement has come at a time when negotiations between the political leadership and differences on provincial administrative matters continue.
On the other hand, all the roads between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which were closed due to the long march, have been opened. However, containers are still present at various places. With the restoration of the routes, traffic between the two provinces has resumed, but the full picture of the security arrangements is unclear.
In the current situation, the offer of talks, the demand for Imran Khan to be shifted to the hospital, and statements regarding Governor’s rule have become important issues in the political landscape. However, there has been no confirmation of the start of formal talks between the government and the PTI or any final agreement.
