Lahore: The recent price drop in Pakistan is drawing the attention of buyers and those planning to purchase jewelry back to the bullion market.
The effects of falling global prices have reached the local level. The price of gold per tola has decreased by Rs 2,100, while a reduction was also recorded in the rate for 10 grams.Â
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of gold per tola in the local market has settled at Rs 450,936. Previously, the price stood at Rs 453,036, marking a decrease of Rs 2,100 per tola.
Rates for 10 grams have also declined; according to data released by the association, the price has dropped by Rs 1,800 to Rs 386,604. This shift in pricing follows a decline in the value of the precious metal in the global market.
In the international market, the price per ounce fell by $21, settling at $4,284. Global price fluctuations have impacted Pakistan’s bullion market; however, local prices are influenced not only by global rates but also by other financial factors.
The price drop offers some relief to ordinary buyers purchasing jewelry—particularly those acquiring gold for weddings and other ceremonies. It is worth noting, however, that the final cost of jewelry also includes making charges and other associated fees.
Gold is valued both for traditional use and as an investment; price fluctuations are significant not only for jewelry buyers but also for investors. Local prices continue to adjust in response to further changes in the global market.
