Islamabad: Security arrangements have been tightened in Rawalpindi and various areas of the federal capital after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced a march towards Islamabad on September 27. Instructions to impose restrictions on business activities in and around Faizabad have also been issued.
According to sources, hotels located near the Faizabad bus stand have been asked to be closed. Restaurants and shopkeepers have also been instructed to close their businesses by Friday evening. Police sources say that orders have also been issued to keep the passenger stations and transport hubs in the area closed until night.
These measures are being taken at a time when the PTI has announced to march towards Islamabad on September 27. The party leadership has expressed its determination to continue the march. Meanwhile, the government has increased security arrangements to maintain law and order.
The federal government has also approved the deployment of Rangers in various districts of Islamabad and Punjab. According to the Interior Ministry, this deployment has been made from September 20 to October 5.
Meanwhile, security measures are also being taken on the entry and exit routes of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. There are reports of barriers being erected on various important highways. These measures are likely to affect the movement of citizens.
On the other hand, Chairman of PTI Barrister Gauhar has urged the government to adopt the path of negotiations to reduce political tension. Speaking to the media in Parliament, he said that the problems of political workers should be resolved through dialogue and justice.
He said that the party is peacefully raising its voice for its rights. According to him, there is no intention of any violence during the march. Barrister Gauhar warned the government that trying to keep a major political party out of the political process could have negative consequences.
The PTI chairman also rejected the possibility of Governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the mandate of the people of the province, elected representatives and the provincial government should be respected.
In view of the march, citizens are being advised to check the route conditions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad before travelling. Due to security measures and possible traffic restrictions, delays and difficulties in transportation may occur on important highways.
