Lahore: The federal government has slightly reduced the prices of petroleum products. The price of petrol has been reduced by 50 paisa, while the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by 19 paisa per litre.
The Petroleum Division has issued a notification of new prices. According to it, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs. 342.60 per litre. High-speed diesel will now be available at Rs. 371.61 per litre.
The new prices have been fixed for August 28, 2026. Thus, the government has slightly reduced the rates of both the important petroleum products for one day.
The reduction of 50 paisa in the price of petrol will provide immediate minor relief to the common consumers. However, due to the small amount of reduction, its impact on daily travel expenses will be limited.
On the other hand, the price of diesel has been reduced by only 19 paisa per litre. Diesel is widely used in transport, agricultural machinery and various business activities. Therefore, even a small change in its price can have some impact on the overall cost.
In recent days, the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan have been witnessing constant fluctuations due to the global oil market and local factors. A system of daily price revision is also in force at the government level, under which the global market situation and other relevant factors are taken into account.
Following the latest decision, petrol has been fixed at Rs 342.60 and high-speed diesel at Rs 371.61 per litre for August 28. Consumers and business circles will now be eyeing the next prices as changes in oil prices in the global market can affect local rates.
