Tehran: The Iranian Army has signalled a significant shift in its defence thinking after the recent war. According to Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akramini, the war has further increased public awareness of regional politics and the importance of the Strait of Hormuz in Iran.
Akramini told the Iranian state news agency that the experiences of past conflicts have influenced military strategy. According to him, the Iranian Army used to focus primarily on a defensive position, but now it has become more proactive and forward-looking.
He clarified that this change does not mean that Iran is adopting a policy of starting a war itself. According to him, Tehran’s stance is that in the event of any new aggression, the army is capable of responding immediately and more comprehensively than before.
The Iranian military spokesman also said that during the ceasefire, the army focused on repairing the affected defense system, introducing new military systems, and training personnel. According to him, the changes in the command structure are also aimed at speeding up decision-making and military response in the event of a possible attack.
