Lahore: The fourth spell of monsoon is continuing in Punjab and the relevant agencies have described the next few days as important and have directed citizens to exercise caution.
According to the Meteorological Department, the current series of rains may continue till August 5. During this time, heavy rain has been predicted in many districts, which may lead to water accumulation in low-lying areas and urban flooding.
The PDMA has declared Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Faisalabad and Multan sensitive, while landslides have also been feared in Murree and Galiyat.
The agency says that the overall situation of the rivers is normal, however, the rise in water level in some places is being continuously monitored. Relevant agencies, including WASA, have also been instructed to remain alert to deal with the emergency situation.
The authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from storm drains and follow official instructions on weather conditions.
