According to the market data, the total trading volume of the companies in the KSE 100 index was 266.16 million shares. The index has fallen 3.26 percent since the start of the current fiscal year and jumped 0.22 percent during the calendar year.

SRVI, MCB, OGDC, SCBPL and NESTLE were the stocks that played a positive role in individual stocks’ performance, while UBL, FFC, ENGRO, HUBC and LUCK did the most to drag the index down.

The other one, though, is the Islamic investment-orientated KMI 30 index that also posted a loss. The index opened at 247,099.58 points, touched a high of 248,069.66 points and a low of 244,562.60 points during the session. The index closed at 245,280.51 points, down 2,557.91 points, or 1.03 percent.

The total volume of shares of all companies of the KMI 30 index traded was 99.76 million shares. The index has dropped by 4.68 per cent since the start of the financial year and 1.31 per cent in the calendar year.

PRL, OGDC, GHNI and GAL were the positive contributors to the index, whereas ENGRO, FFC, HUBC, LUCK and PPL were the worst performers.

In general, investors took a wait-and-see approach during Wednesday’s session, which pushed markets further down. Investors could be closely watching the companies in the coming days for their financial results, economic data and government policy news.
