Iran announces new administrative principles for the Strait of Hormuz, vows to defend nuclear capabilities

Iran has signaled a major change in its policy regarding the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. Supreme Leader Seyyed Mojtaba Ali Khamenei, in his latest speech, accused the US and Israel of destroying peace in the region and said that US military bases in the Gulf countries were causing insecurity instead of security.

He said that the intervention of Europe and the US in the past had only created unrest and economic losses.

The Supreme Leader said in no uncertain terms that the future of the Persian Gulf can be secured and developed without the US presence.

Reiterating the national stance on Iran’s defense program, Mojtaba Khamenei said that missiles and nuclear capabilities are Iran’s defensive fence, the protection of which will be ensured at all costs.

He announced that Iran will develop new principles for monitoring and managing the Strait of Hormuz in order to bring economic stability and real peace to the region.

According to him, Iran is fully capable of taking all necessary measures to ensure its security and the day is not far when the region will be completely free from foreign domination.
