Lahore: In a special meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz, it has been decided to further expand the ongoing welfare projects across Punjab, under which 50,000 more people will be included in the ration card program.

The meeting was informed that more than 1.4 million people are being provided monthly financial assistance through ration cards in the province, while more than one lakh special people have been given financial assistance under Himmat Card and this number will be further increased in the current financial year.

During the briefing, it was informed that thousands of mass marriages have been organized under the Dhee Rani program, which has provided significant relief to poor families.

The Chief Minister issued instructions to further expand this program and complete the target of 9,000 marriages. The meeting also made significant progress on the issue of beggars and it was decided that their data would be collected and mapped regularly across the province so that effective steps could be taken for their rehabilitation and social integration.

Maryam Nawaz also directed to make the Social Welfare Department more active, digitize the Zakat funds system and increase collaboration with credible NGOs for the welfare of women and children.

She said that the Punjab government is taking practical steps for the betterment of the common man and supporting the weaker sections is the top priority, so that they can be provided with opportunities for a better life.
