Washington: US President Donald Trump has said in his statement on the social media platform Truth Social that he has ordered the US Navy to target every boat in the Strait of Hormuz that is involved in laying mines.
President Trump said that any such boat should be “destroyed without hesitation”, while US forces have also intensified minesweeping operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
He claimed that several enemy ships have been destroyed and the US Navy is in complete control of this important sea route.
In another statement, Trump said that the Strait of Hormuz is currently effectively closed and no ships can enter or leave without American permission.
He sharply criticised Iran’s leadership, saying that there are internal differences over leadership and that hardliners are facing defeat.
