In an official statement, the Power Division expressed regret for the deviation from the promised schedule, explaining that the current water shortage has severely restricted the capacity of dams to produce electricity. This shortfall has forced authorities to implement additional power cuts to balance the national grid amid the widening gap between supply and demand.
The Power Division spokesperson highlighted that the reduction in water availability has created a challenging environment for the energy sector, which relies heavily on hydropower for affordable base-load electricity. To mitigate the impact of these outages, the government has appealed to the public to practice extreme energy conservation, particularly during the high-demand nighttime hours. Citizens are being urged to switch off unnecessary lights and appliances to help stabilize the system while technical teams work to manage the available resources more efficiently.
