Karachi – The British pound remained one of the strongest foreign currencies against the Pakistani rupee on Friday, staying close to the Rs. 380 level in the open market.
In the open market, the pound was quoted at Rs. 374.11 for buying and Rs. 379.74 for selling.
In the interbank market, the pound was recorded at Rs. 373.70 for buying and Rs. 374.37 for selling.
The pound’s elevated rate carried direct significance for Pakistan’s trade and remittance profile, particularly due to financial flows from the United Kingdom.
The stronger pound increased the rupee value of remittances and overseas income transfers, while also raising the cost of UK-linked education and service payments.
