Lahore – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said in his latest address that the government is not only saving the people from the rising prices of petroleum products but is also continuing strong diplomatic efforts to establish peace in the region.
He said that according to the global market, prices should be much higher, but the government is providing subsidies worth billions of rupees to provide relief to the people.
He said that in the current circumstances, the price of petrol could have gone up to Rs 544 and the price of diesel to Rs790 per liter, but the government is keeping these prices low and providing fuel to the people at Rs 322 and Rs 335 per liter respectively. The Prime Minister emphasized that the government has decided to bear the burden of another Rs56 billion so that the pressure of inflation on the people can be kept low.
Shahbaz Sharif also spoke about the regional situation in his address and said that Pakistan is playing an active role in establishing peace. He said that he has been in constant contact with the leaders of Iran and the Gulf countries to save the region from a major war.
He said that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts are not only political but also a moral and religious responsibility. The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and said that he is working with full dedication and honesty, while Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is also playing an important role in this process.
The Prime Minister appealed to the nation to show unity, patience and solidarity in this critical time. He said that Pakistan is in dire need of internal stability and national harmony at this time so that the country can not only face economic challenges but also play an effective role in establishing peace in the region.
He assured that the government stands with the people and will make every effort to ensure that they do not face any more difficulties.
