Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has created a big history in Pakistan’s petroleum industry by starting regular production from the country’s first successful ‘horizontal oil well’.
According to an OGDCL spokesperson, the well, named Pasakhi-13, is producing about 460 barrels of crude oil per day, which will prove to be a significant breakthrough in meeting the country’s energy needs.
The highlight of this project is the use of modern ‘geosteering technology’, with the help of which the most suitable part of the underground reservoir has been targeted.
Experts say that this modern method not only helps in increasing production compared to traditional vertical drilling but also reduces the wastage of natural resources.
This success is a big step towards self-sufficiency in Pakistan’s energy sector, which will help reduce dependence on crude oil imports.
