Tehran: An important announcement has been made regarding the leadership in Iran. According to Iranian media, Ali Reza Arafi has been appointed as a member of the interim leadership council, which will act as leader until the election of a new supreme leader.
The council consists of three members, including Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the country’s chief justice. It is being said that this interim arrangement will continue until the Assembly of Experts elects a new Supreme Leader.
Ali Reza Arafi has previously been the deputy chairman of the Assembly of Experts and has also served on the Guardian Council. The Guardian Council is an important body in Iran that oversees the electoral process and legislation. Arafi is also considered the head of Iran’s religious schools and holds a prominent position in religious circles.
Political analysts say that although he enjoys the trust of the top leadership and is considered close to Ali Khamenei, his role in the security agencies is considered limited. According to experts, the establishment of the Transitional Council is part of Iran’s constitutional structure so that there is no leadership vacuum and state affairs continue to run smoothly.
